Silver Heart Pendant

Silver is a very popular choice, especially for heart pendants. It is the cheapest of all precious metals when used for jewellery, and as such you will find it used for many forms of costume pendants. Occasionally a silver heart pendant may be more expensive than one which is made from another precious metal, namely gold. This could occur if it has been designed by a famous designer.

Silver has the advantage that it can be man made as well as being found in its naturally occurring form. Other metals cannot be made in this way; they have to be found instead. But even if we could no longer find any silver occurring naturally we would still be able to manufacture it. This is why it is usually a lot cheaper and used in many heart pendants that are part of a range of fashion jewellery.

So how is silver made? Well the process itself consists of refining copper. So provided there is an unlimited supply of copper we could always produce silver from it.

Silver is arguably one of the more popular and regularly occurring choices when it comes to buying a heart pendant. Certainly they are at the cheaper end of the market, and you can buy a nice heart pendant for less than ten pounds which is still made from sterling silver.

Sterling silver is actually similar to silver but different also, in that it is made with copper to make it stronger and more suited to a piece of jewellery. If you already have sterling silver jewellery you will know it needs cleaning to maintain its bright shiny appearance over time. The darker tone it takes on is just the copper content reacting to the air. A quick clean and it will look as good as new.

Always remember that most stockists of sterling silver heart pendants will also be able to see you some silver cleaner too.
